The original infant of Prague church statue of the Baby Jesus in Prague was created as a royal wedding gift from a Spanish princess to her Austrian royal cousin. The baby statue is long and exquisite, carved from wood and coated in a thin layer of wax. It is nineteen inches high, and its left foot is barely visible under its white robe. Around the left hand is a miniature globe with a cross on it, symbolizing the worldwide kingship of the Christ Son. The right hand is held out in blessing, the first two fingers raised high to symbolize the two natures of Christ, while the folded thumb touches the second two fingers to represent the mystical trinity of father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
