She is also the patron saint of the West Visayan region and Tatara, one of the towns of Binangonan, at the Haro Cathedral or The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Candle under the Archdiocese of Haro in the Philippines. Rizal celebrates her festival on February 2nd every year. Selang City in The Philippines province of Gumetei also celebrates her festival from February 1 to 3, with February 2 being the main holiday. Later Christian conquerors imposed the idea that the statue was the Virgin Mary

According to legend, a shepherd tried to throw a stone at the Our Lady of Candelaria statue, but his arm became paralyzed. Another tried to stab the statue with a knife but ended up stabbing himself. The statue was taken to Cueva de Chinguaro by the local Guanche Mencey. Later, the concerned Anton, who had been enslaved by the Castilians and converted to Christianity, returned to Tenerife and recognized the statue as a statue of the Virgin Mary. He told Munsi of his conversion, and so the statue was venerated by The Soles, who moved it to The Cave of Ahbiniko. However, the statue was stolen and taken to Lanzarote.
