On May 13, 1883, 10-year-old St Therese of Lisieux was bedridden with a fever. Her sisters Celine, Leonie, and Mary prayed at her bedside. Her father, Louis, prayed in his study as he struggled to accept God’s will, having lost his wife, Pauline, and four other children. Santa Teresa suddenly had a fever and became conscious and looked up at our Lady of the Smile statue on the table beside her bed. She sees the smile of our lady of the smile statue and feels the love emanating from her. Little Theresa recovered instantly. Since then, the statue has been known as Our Lady of the Smile Statue. Our lady of the smile Statue can also help to heal us. If we ask her for help, she asks the Lord to shine His face on us and fill us with his kindness.
