But we do not wish to give a longer account of his activities for more than twenty years but to present in a more systematic manner those things which will make it easier for the reader to understand the spirit of Paul, and the motive force and effect of his missionary work. Paul was very fond of the word apostle, and of its implications, of calling himself a soldier, a wise architect, and of offering his own work for the ministry of apostasy as an offering. Therefore, according to his thinking, he performed his apostolic duties as zealous as a sacrificial priest, as brave as a soldier of Jesus, and as wise as a wise architect.
