Project Description

santo niño de pandacan

Famous Religious Mythology Bronze Santo Niño De Pandacan Statue

Believed to be over 400 years old, the image of Santo Niño de Pandacan is carved in dark wood. This wood bears a striking resemblance to the dark Mexican wood in Quiapo’s Black Nazarene and Antipolo’s Black Madonna images, suggesting that it is like the latter two images. Take a look at our Santo Niño de Pandacan statue. It is cast out of bronze. Sto. Nino de Pandacan was brought to the Philippines by the Spanish in the galleon trade from Acapulco in Mexico to Manila in the Philippines.

The history of the Pandacan is intertwined with that of their magical patron

The history of the Pandacan is intertwined with that of their magical patron, the Santo Niño de Pandacan is loved by everyone and inspires legions of believers. Over the centuries, this dark image of Jesus as a child has performed many miracles, and his connection with Pandamans will always be inseparable. In the early 1600s, children playing in the fields near buffalo dens surrounded by pandan plants discovered the magical black image of Sto Nino. The place was later called Bandana, which means “Banlan Plantation”. The Spaniards mispronounced the name, so it was changed to Pandacan. The site is near what is now the Sto. Nino Shrine to the right of the parish church. In the early 1600s, children playing in the fields near buffalo dens surrounded by pandan plants discovered the magical black image of Sto Nino. The history of the Santo Niño de Pandacan statue

As the Pandacan was part of the Sambaloch diocese at the time, its elders enshrined the image of Santo Niño de Pandacan in the Sambaloch church. However, after some time, the photo inexplicably disappeared from Sampaloc, only to be found in the same place where it first appeared in Pandacan. When it was brought back to the Sampaloc church, it disappeared a second time, only to be found in the same place where it was originally found. Believing that the magical idol wanted to make Pandacan a home, the elders of the Barrio and the Franciscan priests of Sambaloch decided to build a visiting idol to worship the idol. The visit was built on the spot where the Holy image was found. Today, the Santo Niño de Pandacan sculpture is still popular with people.
