St. Benedict of Nusia was an Italian Catholic priest, Saint, and founder of the Benedictine Order

St. Benedict of Nusia was an Italian Catholic priest, Saint, and founder of the Benedictine Order. He is credited with founding the monastic system in the West and was canonized in 1220. One of the most important saints in the Catholic Church. He was the source of the holy name of Pope Benedict XVI. He often worshipped with SAN Antonio, the author of the Treatise on the Elements, and served around Saint Paul. In his left hand he held the cross, and in his right hand he held the Sacrament of the Monastery, with an expression of compassion. Benedict himself is respected for what he says and does. It is said that he showed many spiritual signs during his lifetime, such as predicting the future and driving out demons. He is also the founder of the three Masses, the Consecration Mass, the Psalm Mass, and the Thanksgiving Mass, so Catholics also called him “Saint of Mass”. The rosary also bears the exorcism plate of St. Benedict. Believers believe that the strict Saint Benedict statue was able to suppress demons and was a guardian saint who would not be disturbed by demons when he prayed.

He is known as the “father of Western monastic life”.

Benedict was born into the Italian aristocracy. In his youth, he went to Rome to study. Because of the bad social atmosphere, he left Rome and lived a complete hermit life in the caves of Suppia. After being discovered by a priest, so constantly someone came to consult spiritual affairs. It was a convent in Vicovaro, and when the abbot died, there was no replacement. The monks asked Benedict to take charge of the house. But it was not allowed by the monks because of its strict rules. The monks plotted against him. They assigned the friars to hold poisoned wine for his blessing, and when St. Benedict raised his hand and made the sign of the cross on the cup, it burst and shattered. After this incident, he left the convent and returned to the caves of Suppia. As many committed monasteries came to him for advice, he readily accepted them and grouped them into small spiritual groups. After that, St. Benedict established twelve monasteries in Suppia. In the convent of Monte Cassino, St. Benedict wrote the rules, which were very strict and emphasized manual labor. But opposed to excessive form of penance. This Benedictine order set the pattern of Western monastic life, and he is known as the “father of Western monastic life”.
