Our lady of providence statue is the patron saint of Italy:
The title of “Mary, mother of Providence” can often be traced back to her intervention at the Cana wedding. Christ’s first public miracle was partly due to his mother’s intercession. Our Lady of Providence Statue through her foresight and care helped to avoid an embarrassing situation for the newly married couple. Our Lady of Providence Statue is sometimes referred to as the queen of the house.
The dedication to our Lady of Providence statue originated in Italy and spread to France and Spain. Father Servite brought this spirit of devotion to Puerto Rico in the early 1850s. According to tradition, Philip Benizi (1233-1285) prayed to Mary for help in providing food for his friars, and later found baskets of food at the Abbey gates. On November 19, 1969, the Our Lady of Providence statue was declared the patron saint of Puerto Rico by Pope Paul VI. Many Puerto Rican communities celebrate the Festival of Our Lady of Providence Statue.
Around 1580, Italian painter Scipione Pulzone created a painting called “Mater Divinae Providentiae,” which depicts the Virgin holding the baby Jesus. Around 1611, a cleric went to Loreto, Began dedicating his life to the Our Lady of Providence Statue in the first house of the Barnabites priesthood in St. Paul, Rome, praying for help in finding the financial resources to complete the Church of St. Carlo. When he returned, they were given the necessary help and the Barnabit began to promote the dedication of the Our Lady of Providence Statue.
